Law enforcement officials report that during the early morning hours of May 25, a single vehicle crash in Lynwood claimed the lives of two people. Two other people in the car were injured in the fatal accident.

According to the report, about 1 a.m. a southbound vehicle traveling in close proximity to Carlin and Atlantic avenues suddenly swerved off the roadway and spun uncontrollably. As the vehicle was spinning, it veered westward, smashing into a tree on the sidewalk. After sliding through a parking lot, the vehicle finally stopped at a nearby building.

Emergency personnel who arrived at the scene took one passenger and the driver to a nearby hospital for treatment. Two other passengers were instantly killed after being thrown on impact. At the time of the report, the investigation into the accident was ongoing. Police were also requesting anyone with information to contact them.

Motor vehicle accidents can result in catastrophic, life-threatening injuries. As a result, many survivors of serious car accidents could experience financial losses because their injuries prevent them from returning to their job. Additionally, their injuries might cause them to undergo extensive rehabilitation and therapy, resulting in extensive medical expenses. However, car accident victims may be able to pursue compensation for their losses by filing a personal injury claim against the at-fault driver. In order for the injured party to succeed in the claim, evidence must exist showing the accident was caused due to the driver’s negligence. By assessing police and witness reports of the accident, an attorney may be able to establish that the driver failed to exhibit the required standard of care.
