Five common reasons responsible for truck accidents

Posted by Leonard Becker | Mar 10, 2022 | 0 Comments

Trucking accidents involving private motorists are common in the California Bay Area as well as in the rest of the United States. While circumstances always differ, the causes often remain the same. Consider these top reasons you may have been injured in a truck accident.

Common reasons for trucking accidents

Five general situations are responsible for most truck accidents, with the most common being driver error. Within driver error are four critical suberrors that can explain why an accident occurred:

  • Nonperformance, caused by a medical condition like a heart attack
  • Recognition, where the driver was inattentive for some reason
  • Bad decisions, such as driving too fast for conditions
  • Performance, including panicking or exercising poor control

Other reasons for trucking accidents include lack of on-the-road training and equipment failure, which can encompass a host of reasons ranging from lack of vehicle maintenance to defective or missing safety equipment. Company priorities specifying that the trucker needs to be at their destination on a specified day no matter what can lead to poor decisions like speeding that can result in crashes. Finally, substance abuse of any type can also cash severe truck accidents.

Commercial vehicle accidents are often complex

While accidents involving trucks are often more severe than other vehicular accidents, they are often more complex and can be challenging to prove in court. Accidents involving large trucks can cause severe injuries involving the brain and spinal cord that may require years of rehabilitation and lost work.

Not that that driver behind the truck's wheel may have caused the accident, he or she may not ultimately be responsible for the incident. Trucking company policies may be responsible for personal injuries. Nevertheless, if you are a victim of a trucking incident, you can still pursue your right to compensation.
