Head-on collision claims 2 lives

Posted by Leonard Becker | Dec 04, 2014 | 0 Comments

Two people lost their lives in a recent head-on crash on U.S. Highway 101 in Novato. The California Highway Patrol began receiving calls around midnight about a 1995 Toyota Camry station wagon traveling north in the southbound lane of the highway. As the male driver approached the crossing near Redwood Sanitary Landfill, he crashed into a 2013 Nissan Sentra occupied by another male driver and a female passenger.

Following the collision, the Nissan overturned and hit by a 2006 Dodge Ram pickup truck. The drivers of the Toyota and the Nissan died at the scene, while the female passenger was taken to the hospital with possible major injuries. The driver of the Dodge truck did not suffer injuries. Authorities report that alcohol may have been a factor in the incident.

The surviving passenger of the Nissan in this accident may be entitled to receive monetary compensation for her injuries, but the advice of a personal injury attorney could be useful. The details of the incident, the extent of her injuries and other factors such as insurance coverage may all factor into the type and amount of damages she would receive. In addition, the family of the deceased driver of the Nissan may be able to receive financial relief.

It can be difficult to prove who is responsible for a car accident. Victims in drunk driving or other incidents may wish to consult with reputable law professionals that have experience with similar cases. Attorneys may be able to use police investigation reports, testimony from eye witnesses, and the victim's own recollection of the event as evidence to build a case.
