A new public service advertising campaign is underway in California and across the country. The campaign is focused on further reducing the incidence of underage drinking and driving by using a new slogan and footage designed to appeal to teens.

Previous successful public service campaigns have included the “Buzzed Driving is Drunk Driving” and the “Friends Don't Let Friends Drive Drunk” campaigns. Following them, the percentage of young males who reported they would get a taxi or other form of transportation instead of driving drunk increased from 38 to 47 percent between the years of 2005 and 2013.

The current campaign is a result of the collaboration between the Ad Council and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The ads, which are being released both online and on television, were shot using an iPhone, giving them a grittier and more realistic feel. The slogan in the ads is that drunk driving is the ultimate party foul. The scenes show young people committing other “party fouls,” such as spilling drinks. The agencies are hoping that this new campaign will result in the further reduction of underage drunk driving.
