On Dec. 7, a four-car accident in California resulted in the death of a 29-year-old woman. The accident occurred in Oceanside at about 9 a.m. when the deceased woman's Kia was rear-ended by a Ford F-150 truck. A Chevy pickup was also hit by the F-150, and the Kia struck a Toyota truck.

No one else was killed in the car accidents, but two of the other drivers suffered from minor injuries. The driver of the F-150 broke his wrist, and the driver of the Chevy sustained bruising. They were both flown to Scripps La Jolla for treatment. The driver of the Toyota was not injured, and the man was able to provide statements to a local reporter after the crash. He said that the driver of the F-150 seemed to have been traveling 100 mph when he ran through a traffic light without braking.

Police were able to complete a preliminary investigation and determined that the F-150 driver was not intoxicated. According to people who live in the area, the spot where the accident took place is notoriously dangerous. As State Route 78 becomes Vista Way, some drivers are unprepared to slow down for the traffic light.

Family members of someone who has been killed in a similar accident might want to speak with an attorney about filing a wrongful death claim. In some cases, a civil action can allow family members to hold a driver accountable for their actions even when the driver is not criminally charged. As part of a civil claim, family members of a deceased car accident victim may pursue compensation for funeral expenses, pain and suffering and loss of future earnings.
